The screenshot of the mesa biome above is from the seed Mesa and River Spawn. Shot not far from the game spawn point, the setting sun made the dim colors of the biome dramatic as contrasted against the bright sky.
The screenshot was taken in version 1.11 with the Conquest of the Sun texture pack and Optifine.
