How to make an anvil in Minecraft

Time needed: 1 minute.

An anvil is crafted with a crafting table from 3 iron blocks and 4 iron ingots. The crafting process creates 1 anvil for each set of ingredients used.

1. Open the crafting menu

   With 3 iron blocks and 4 iron ingots in your inventory, open the crafting menu. You will be presented with the 3×3 crafting grid.
   
   

2. Arrange the items on the crafting grid

   To make an anvil, arrange the iron blocks and iron ingots on the crafting grid. Each item must be placed in the position seen in the anvil crafting recipe below. When complete, the anvil will appear to the right of the 3×3 crafting grid.
   
   
   
   The crafting recipe for an anvil is 3 iron blocks and 4 iron ingots arranged in the following pattern:
   Row 1: iron block, iron block, iron block
   Row 2: empty, iron ingot, empty
   Row 3: iron ingot, iron ingot, iron ingot

3. Place the completed anvil in your player inventory

   Select the anvil and move it into your player inventory.
