How to make a fishing rod in Minecraft

Time needed: 1 minute.

A fishing rod is crafted with a crafting table from 3 sticks and 2 string. The crafting process creates 1 fishing rod for each set of ingredients used.

1. Open the crafting menu

   With 3 sticks and 2 string in your inventory, open the crafting menu. You will be presented with the 3×3 crafting grid.
   
   

2. Arrange the items on the crafting grid

   To make a fishing rod, arrange the sticks and string on the crafting grid. Each item must be placed in the position seen in the fishing rod crafting recipe below. When complete, the fishing rod will appear to the right of the 3×3 crafting grid.
   
   
   
   The crafting recipe for a fishing rod is 3 sticks and 2 string arranged in the following pattern:
   Row 1: empty, empty, stick
   Row 2: empty, stick, string
   Row 3: stick, empty, string
   

3. Place the completed fishing rod in your player inventory

   Select the fishing rod and move it into your player inventory.
